Single Cell Protein

Single Cell proteins are dried cells of microorganisms or extracted from pure or mixed cultures of algae, yeasts, fungi or bacteria. They can use as feed supplement and protein supplement for humans. Earlier it was known as Microbial Protein. Pruteen was first commercial SCP used as an animal feed additive. Biomass plays an important role in production of SCP.
